In 2013 the Cusumano brothers, following studies and research in the area, were able to acquire the first three contrade on the northern slope of Etna, Europe's largest active volcano, a symbol of exciting nature and remote, tenacious viticulture. Diego and Alberto Cusumano have brought together the districts of Guardiola, Pietramarina, Verzella, Feudo di Mezzo and Solicchiata on Etna under the Alta Mora brand. The continuously developing project began with the reconstruction of the traditional dry stone walls of the Guardiola terraces and continued in the strenuous search to reproduce all the rules of hypogeal architecture, ensuring considerable energy savings thanks to natural thermal insulation and the use of energy extracted from biomass. The wine cellar, built with typical local materials such as lava and coccio pesto, guarantees not only spectacular integration with nature but also zero-cost thermoregulation. The resulting wines express the characteristics and traits of a unique territory.
