Azienda Agricola Sociale Calafata takes its name from Mastri Calafati, skilled builders of boats waterproofed with a simple rope and pitch.
The Cooperative was born from the desire to recover abandoned land through the work of socially disadvantaged people.
The Majulina of this winery is made with Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo and Colorino from old abandoned vineyards on the hills of Lucca.
The vines are grown with extreme care through biodynamic agriculture, harvested by hand and fermented without the addition of yeasts.
An elegant red that shows all the potential of this area, with a good vocation for aging that will amplify all its qualities.
A bottle to uncork when the person you like accepts your invitation.

Its name comes from the master caulkers who, thanks to their knowledge, a rope and some pitch, could create safe and waterproof boats. Calafata is conceived to be a place of planning and working, centred on the love and the attention invested in the places we live in focusing on ways of working and social inclusion for all those people who are in marginalised and disadvantaged conditions.
It is an idea of an agricultural enterprise which is able to combine the quality of its products, the dicipline required by the ground and the leading role of all those who work it.
