"Ghiaie della Furba" was born from a great desire of Count Ugo Contini Bonacossi in 1979 to produce a great Bordeaux-style wine. Then it began with a blend of international vines, primarily Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah was subsequently added. The goal was clear, to produce a wine with a great personality that reflected the values ??and potential of the Tuscan area of ??Carmignano.
The name of this label comes from the gravelly soil that we find along the Furba stream, from which it takes its name, where the vineyards proliferate having an average age ranging from 28 to 40 years. Like all the wines of Tenuta di Capezzana, organic agriculture is applied, respecting the environment, its cycles and its rhythms. Wine must be a direct expression of everything that the surrounding ecosystem can give, only in this way can unique and characterful bottles be created.
The harvest takes place between mid-September and the first days of October, the must ferments in steel for 7 days, macerating for a long time for another 13 days; malolactic fermentation takes place subsequently, once the wine is transferred to barrique. The final refinement takes place first for 18 months in barrique, then for another 18 months in glass.
The "Ghiaie della Furba" is a Tuscan red wine of great intensity, powerful and complex. The aromas are rich and wide of red fruit, wood spices, Mediterranean scrub and chocolate. On the palate it is dense and structured, supported by important tannins. Great expression of the territory certainly to have in the cellar.
Game, red meats and aged cheeses manage to highlight all the qualities of this excellent wine.

Morbido, strutturato, di grande volume, opulento, con tannino a trama densa e dolce, acidità in equilibrio alla struttura, al grasso e alla densità del vino. Retrogusto lungo, persistente, fruttato con sensazioni gustative di piccoli frutti rossi del sottobosco sposato a note speziate intense e complesse.
Si accompagna a tutte le carni in genere ed ai formaggi.

Tenuta di Capezzana is an ancient tradition of the Carmignanese company. Carmignano is one of the oldest towns in Tuscany and the history and fame of its wines are linked to the millennial events of this land.
The vine was already cultivated in Etruscan times, about 3,000 years ago, as evidenced by the wine recipients found among the numerous finds. Then came the Roman era: it was written that the same names of some wineries would derive from Roman names of the era of Silla, when the area was divided and given to veterans; Capezzana would take the name of one of these, called Capitus.
In the Florence state archives we found a parchment dated 804: it is a lease contract which documents how already 1200 years ago in Capezzana oil and wine were produced. In the 20s of the last century the Contini Bonacossi family bought Capezzana: currently the management of the company belongs to Count Ugo's sons, who have divided the tasks in the company: Benedetta works in the cellar in close contact with Vittorio, who also takes care of the wine sector together with his son Gaddo; Filippo takes care of the production of oil and the financial part and Beatrice is the commercial and marketing manager of the company, assisted by his niece Serena. Currently the company has a total area of ??670 hectares, of which over 90 are vineyards and 140 are olive groves.
Capezzana is located in the north of Tuscany, in the municipality of Carmignano, in the province of Prato, 20 km from Florence, between the Montalbano and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. This explains the particularity of its microclimate: in summer the days are hot and followed by cool nights and the rainfall is well distributed throughout the year.
