CELLAR
Name: Chateau La Clotte-Cazalis
Start-up year: 1779
Cultivated hectares: 9
Address: Château La Clotte - Barsac (France)
Web Site: www.laclotte-cazalis.com
The story of Château la Clotte-Cazalis is that of a resurrection. This estate, planted in 8,5 hectares of vines overlooks the voluptuous curves of the Ciron, a tributary of the Garonne, whose beneficial mists confer on the wines of Sauternes and Barsac "the extravagance of perfection". It belongs to the Lacoste family since 1779. The management of Château La Clotte, a renowned Vineyard in the 19th century, has been resumed of late by Madame Bernadette Lacoste, with the professional support of the daughter Marie-Pierre, a qualified oenologist specilized in sweet wines. The estate stretches out over the riverine slopes of the Ciron, the site of the exceptional mosaic of terroirs which makes them distinctive personality of the great Barsac wines. These shallow gravelly terraces overlaying calcareous clay subsoils bear a majority of semillon vines Château La Clotte is processed in the purest Sauternes-Barsac tradition, which season with a dash of sauvignon.
