Details of wine

The Kaplja is a wine full of great charm and personality. The same blend used for its realization is extremely particular as we have, an international grape variety such as Chardonnay that blends in an almost poetic way with two indigenous varieties of Friuli, such as Malvasia Istrana and Friulano.
The poetry of this wine is further strengthened by the skill of the owner Podversic, who scrupulously following the principles of biodynamics, implements a respectful attitude of nature, without the addition of any yeast except the natural ones present on the skins. Furthermore, always following its principles in wine, it is given all the time to mature in the bottle. The Kaplja is vinified in contact with the skins and makes a long rest (about 23 months) in large oak barrels. The result is a compelling wine, of great structure and thickness, very complex in aromas and suitable for great evolutions. It can also be defined as challenging because only by entering the world of Podversic will it be possible to reach the precious soul of this expression of the Collio territory.

On mount Calvario there were some old, abandoned vines and I started to buy up some small plots of land. Today on these lands we have the most important vinyards, six hectares planted with ribolla gialla, malvasia, friulano (tocai), merlot e cabernet sauvignon. We have another half hectare at San Floriano, planted with chardonnay, which was part of my grandfather’s holding. We have a further two hectares rented at Gradiscutta with chardonnay, malvasia e friulano. For the past twenty years we’ve had at Piedimonte another one and half hectares with friulano, chardonnay e malvasia.
