Description

Details of wine

The Maison Stéphan was born in 2017 from the union of Jean-Michel Stéphan and his son Romain with the intention of creating wines that do not undergo corrections, complex from an aromatic point of view and with good aging potential.

A family-run organic maison that today makes labels appreciated all over the world.

The Domaine J-M Stephan Côte Rôtie Rosso 2017 was born in the Rhone valley, from the union of Syrah and Viognier, a powerful red with a great structure.

The passion for the land and its respect lies in the mainly manual processing stages that govern this Maison.

A red encompasses all the qualities of this region.

Name: Domaine J-M Stephan
Start-up year: 1991
Address: Tupin-et-Semons (France)

Jean-Michel Stephan is an independent spirit of the Côte-Rôtie. He studied in Belleville, in Beaujolais and took his first steps in 1991, spurred on by his passion for biology and plants. The most extensive property is 1.5 ha on the Coteau de Bassenon. It is a slope of 40 °, with lots of terraces carved into soft granite or beola. The upper part is from 1987; the low part, of 0.87 ha goes from 1896 to 1902 and this part is used in the cuvée "Vieille Vigne en Coteaux" when the vintage is level. His other sites are Tupin (1965), Coteaux de Tupin (1980), and a tiny plot of 0.3 ha at Verenay (1992). At present, its vineyard is about 60% clone massal, 30% Serrine, and 10% Viognier.
