CELLAR
Name: Domaine Marc Kreydenweiss
Address: 12, rue Deharbe - Andlau (France)
Web Site: www.kreydenweiss.com
Before the French Revolution, part of the vines of the Domaine belonged to the Abbey of Andlau that at that time was run by an abbess. The buildings of the Abbey still exist. It's a spendid Romanesque Church located in front of our cellar. Another part of the vines belonged to the Abbey of Altdorf, now entirely in ruins, located in Eochhoffen, a neighbouring village. During the 16th Century, with the arrival to Andlau of many nobles and merchants attracted by the artistica development promoted by Abbey, a strong wine activity was established in Andlau. Our ancestors worked both as millers and vine growers. The mill was operated until the beginning of the 20th Century. The current house was built towards the beginning of the 17th Century after the Peasant Revolt. Our Cellar have the only vestige left of the Kastelberg chapel, a column from the 12th Century.
