The fame of Pommard in the 19th century earned it the image of a wine that is both forceful and virile. In reality, time, terroir and methods of vinification have all combined to create a more subtle reality, a wine that is both richer and more sensitive.



Rosso scuro intenso con riflessi malva.


I suoi aromi sono intensi di mora, mirtillo o uva spina, buccia di ciliegia e prugna matura. Spesso, le note selvagge e feline si sviluppano con l'età.


Struttura soda ma delicata, la sua bocca piena di frutta ei suoi tannini gommosi, che a quel punto saranno adeguatamente levigati.


Questo illustre rappresentante della Côte de Beaune, con i suoi tannini fitti e massicci, si cimenta in selvaggina di pelo o di piuma, brasato o arrostito, che troverà in Pommard (e in particolare nella Premiers Crus) un inestimabile collaboratore. La carne di manzo, l'agnello o il pollo in umido tagliati rispondono ai suoi tannini consistenti e agli aromi concentrati. È un partner naturale per i formaggi con sapori ben sviluppati: Époisses, Langres e Soumaintrain, ma anche Comté.

GROUND In media pendenza, i terreni argilloso-calcarei sono ben drenati grazie all'inclusione di detriti rocciosi. Più in alto sono ancora marne giurassiche (oxfordiane), suoli calcici marroni e suoli calcarei marroni. In alcuni punti il terreno è arrossato dalla presenza di ferro. Esposizione: sud o est. Altitudini: da 250 a 330 metri.

Domaine Mussy In the 14th century, there is mention of a Mussy, lord of Savigny. Then there is Pierre Mussy, born in 1650, husband of Huguette Marceau and winemaker Faubourg Madeleine in Beaune. Today, 9 generations later, it is Odile Mussy and her husband Michel Meuzard who manage a domain of some 6 hectares of vines for 9 appellations: 2.50 hectares of Pommard 1er Cru in the climates Epenots, Pezerolles and Saussilles; 2.50 hectares of Beaune 1er Cru Montrevenots and Epenottes and finally, for the rest, Volnay and Burgundy regional appellation. The vines are between 30 and 60 years old, and are exclusively planted in pinot noir, with moderate yields, less than 40 hectoliters per hectare. Winemaking is typical of the Burgundy traditions and the aging takes place exclusively in oak barrels, before bottling at the estate for sales around the world. It was in 1988 that Michel and Odile Meuzard came to join André Mussy, the "Patriarch of the Estate" to work alongside him and ensure its durability. It is with passion, humility and a deep respect of nature that Michel has always worked the vines and the wine to ensure a constant quality. For 11 years now, David has been working alongside them, and with their daughter Delphine, the Domaine's durability is assured: the 11th generation is on the move! The estate covers 6 hectares including 2/3 in Premier Cru in different appellations: Burgundy Pinot, Beaune Premier Cru Beaune, Beaune Montremenots Premier Cru, Clos des Montremenots, Volnay Village, Pommard Village, Pommard Saussilles Premier Cru, Pommard Pézerolles Premier Cru and finally Pommard Les Petits Epenots Premier Cru: the great lord of Pommard. Each vineyard plot has a unique history and exceptional soil quality. In order to obtain the best of Pinot Noir, we practice a "reasoned" cultivation with an average production of 25 hectoliters per hectare. Vines aged 35 to 70 give birth to very concentrated grapes which reveal typical aromas of the Burgundy region (raspberry, strawberry, blackcurrant, blackberries ...) The winemaking is traditionally done so that the alcoholic fermentations are made the most naturally possible. After pressing, the wines are placed in barrels, with only 10% new oak to preserve the typicality of each plot and avoid the too pronounced taste of "woody". The wines are then aged in barrels, from 8 to 12 months, depending on the year and the vintage. Everything is thus implemented to preserve the uniqueness and typicity of our terroir in order to bring together the greatest amateurs around a traditional wine.
