CELLAR
Name: Franchini Agricola
Address: Via Rita Rosani, 18 Località Forlago 1 - Negrar di Valpolicella (VR)
Web Site: https://www.franchinivini.com/ita/home
Agricola Franchini is situated in Negrar di Valpolicella, right in the heart of the Valpolicella area precisely in the small locality of Forlago. The historical house where the cellar is now located was built by my ancestors, around about the 17th century, and the cellar was realised by following the building techniques of that period, such as the Romanic vault, with stones and lime typical of this region. Since the 1460s my ancestors have started coming from the Gaul region (France) and have settled in in this land with an extraordinary vocation for the production of the most noble wine of the Classic Valpolicella area: the Amarone. In 2008 the production of Amarone officially starts the new wine-making project of the Agricola Franchini (even if the production of wine was done before for family consumption). An ancient Romanic ice-well can be found just underneath the ancient house (Corte Forlago) as well as an old drying room called sèdese, which was used to dry cereals in the past; the well is the symbol of the labels on our bottles (view from above). In the secrecy of our cellar we celebrate the magic of time. The bottles of Amarone and many other wines rest in the calmness and darkness of silence, while aromas and fragrances enrich them day after day, getting more and more ready to gift new emotions. It takes time, patience and passion to create a DOC Franchini wine, capable of combining art, nature, land and delicacy, just like a love story. The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Costa d'Angelo 2013 was awarded with: Bronze Medal from Decanter World Wine Awards 2020; 3 rosettes from Vinetia 2019; Gold Medal from The Wine Hunter Award 2019.
