Frescobaldi Pomino Pinot Nero 2016

Pomino Pinot Noir is a wine of surpassing elegance. Delicate fragrances of dark cherry and wild strawberry meld together with floral notes of sweet violets. This is a lovely blend of Pinot Noir and a touch of Sangiovese.

Wine zones 95% Pinot Nero, 5% Sangiovese

Alcol 12.50%

Format 0,75 L Standard

This wine appears a deep ruby red, with impressive luminosity.
The palate elegantly mirrors the aromatics enjoyed on the nose, then develops a suite of silk-smooth tannins. A crisp progression leads into a long-lingering, ultra-savoury finish, completing a wine that is refined, rounded, and fully balanced.
The bouquet is richly complex and stylish, with initial impressions of dark wild berry fruit, including blackberry and blueberry, as well as dried plum and dark cherry. Subtly pungent notes of mint and nutmeg gradually claim attention, and the aromatic array concludes with tobacco leaf and baker's chocolate.
Pomino Pinot Nero pairs well with tomato-based first courses, such as lasagna, and with marinades and stews.

Castello di Pomino, designed by Florentine architect Gherardo Silvani, houses the estate winemaking cellars. Recognised in 1716 by Cosimo III de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, for the excellence of its wines, Pomino vaunts an environment unique for Tuscany: a perfectly-balanced ecosystem of vineyards, fir forest, chestnut trees, and olive groves. The estate covers 1,458 hectares lying along the wooded slopes of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, with 108 hectares in vineyards, at elevations ranging from 300 to 750 metres. The Frescobaldis were the first in Tuscany to cultivate international varieties, planting Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and Pinot Grigio. Sangiovese is also grown at lower elevations. Thanks to slightly acidic soils and the dry, cool weather of these more northerly areas, these vineyards yield highly aromatic wines of striking finesse and distinctiveness.
