Il terreno presenta un valore PH da 6,1 a 6,9 ed è caratterizzato da erosioni di filladi quarzifere. La percentuale argillosa del terreno varia a seconda dell'esposizione del pendio: i vigneti situati nella zona più a sud presentano un contenuto maggiore di argilla che conferisce ai vini una struttura più piena e potente. I vini provenienti dalle zone più a nord, ove i terreni hanno un contenuto di argilla minore, hanno un carattere più minerale, con acidità più marcata e brillantezza superiore. |

A Velturno, just above Lock, is the Garlider Winery, which has a magnificent view of the Valle Isarco and the imposing mountains.
