In the southernmost tip of the island, again from Nero d'Avola grapes, this CRU from the Gulfi winery, the Nerobaroj, comes to life. From a totally calcareous soil and kissed by the almost African sun, a unique wine with great personality is derived.
The grapes harvested after mid-September are vinified in red with long maceration of the must with the skins. After malolation, the wine is decanted in small 500 and 225 liter barrels where it remains for about 24 months. The wine is refined in the bottle for almost two years.
Head wine, acute and very fragrant, with a generous and generous bottom, favors dishes based on fat and the impetus of the pulp: tuna-based dishes, of pork also in complex preparations.

Vino di testa, acuto e profumatissimo, dal fondo ampio e generoso, privilegia i piatti basati sui grassi e l'irruenza della polpa: piatti a base di tonno (quello vero, rosso e fibroso), di carne di maiale anche in preparazioni complesse, oppure le ricette mediterranee nelle quali pomodoro e peperoncino possono arricchire e gratificare il patrimonio aromatico del vino, esaltando l'abbinamento.

In 1996 Catania, Vito a businessman originally from Chiaramonte Gulfi, decides to give new impetus to the tradition of wine-growing family. Spurred by a passion for wine, Vito Catania started in collaboration with Salvo Foti a brave project for Sicilian viticulture: to give life to a selection of great wines from Nero d'Avola choosing the most suitable land traditional area of ??the Val di Noto. This is how the Nero d'Avola durable and harmonious, refined and complex, able to speak the same language of the great classics of world enology and to express the purity of accent with the Sicilian. Gulfi now includes more than 70 hectares of vineyard certified organic, all property, in addition to producing great wines and of Nero d'Avola Carricante expression of two whites, indigenous variety of strong personalities, a fascinating Cerasuolo DOCG vineyard and a red centenary on the slopes of Etna.
