Name: Le Caniette Azienda Agricola

Cultivated hectares: 20
Winemaker name: Giovanni Vagnoni
Address: Contrada Canali, 23 - Ripatransone (AP)

The company was set up in 1987, when Raffaele Vagnoni bought the estate "Le Caniette", close to Ripatransone, and moved there with his family. Over the years, he invested his savings to expand the property with other land lots. Winemaking was already a part of the family business, which also features agricultural production and bull stud farm. After the death of his father, Giovanni took over the business. He planted the first 40 rows of vines, abandoning the old alberate-training system, and made winegrowing an activity on its own. In the 60s, Raffaele Vagnoni turned the wine business into the main activity, by gradually converting most of the land he had inherited from his father into vineyards, for a total of 9 out of 11 hectares. He also introduced machinery and equipment for the production and marketing of quality wines. In 1990, his son Giovanni entered the company, producing and putting on the marked the first bottles of Rosso Piceno bearing the trademark Le Caniette. Gianfranco Notargiacomo, Artist and Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, suggested their names: "Morellone" and "Rosso bello". In 2002, Raffaele left the family company to Giovanni and Luigino, who are currently managing it. They expanded the estate up to 20- hectares, 16 of which are vineyards. In 2007, they opened a new facility that features two cellars and a tasting room. With a modern and functional design, our winery is the ideal destination for public and private events such as exhibitions, conferences, corporate dinners and private parties. Our production focuses on six types of wine that maximize the potential of local grapes. We use modern techniques and yet preserve the spirit and the tradition of our fathers. Nature and agriculture in a sustainable harmony. That’s what we promote, and that’s why we adopt ORGANIC FARMING methods for our crops. Complying with current environmental regulations is the starting point for a good environmental management. At first, our environmental management system complied with UNI EN ISO 14001:04.In 1996, we joined CCPB, an approved organic control body (CB). The activities of CCPB are a result of the experience of the Consortium for the Control of Organic Products, a cooperative founded in 1988. The Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Policy (MIPAAF) has accredited CCPB with CE 834/07 regulation, as subsequently amended and supplemented, to control companies that produce, prepare, distribute and import products derived by organic farming. Thanks to its authorizations and accreditations, CCPB srl is able to certify organic products for different international markets, therefore providing customers with a complete service. To be CCPB-certified, companies have to apply and send a NOTIFICATION, as required by 834/07 Regulation, as subsequently amended and supplemented, or send the required documents for each certification scheme. The organic label can be issued only to companies that are registered to "Consorzio il Biologico" and that comply with its regulations. Members have the right to use the associated trademarks on controlled products and informative material. Moreover, they can join trade fairs together with other members.
