CELLAR
Name: Vignobles Levet
Address: 26 Boulevard des Allées - Ampuis (France)
Web Site: http://www.coterotielevet.fr/
We are a family estate that has been handed down for 4 generations. It all began in 1929 with Christophe Chambeyron , the great-grandfather, who became the owner of a vineyard in the accessible Côte Blonde while he was in an ox cart. Marius Chambeyron , his son, continued his father's work by planting vines with the strength of his arms. The slopes were very steep and the paths very narrow: we even talked about "goat paths" because the vines were so steep. In Landonne, Chavaroche, Mollard and Baleyat, Marius planted vines parallel to his gardening activity in the market. At that moment, the Chambeyron family began to market their Côte-Rôtie wine. Nicole Levet , daughter of Marius Chambeyron, took over the property together with her husband Bernard Levet. They took care of this estate since 1983 and developed it by doubling the area of the estate. They believed in the potential of their wines at a time when the Côte-Rôtie appellation was struggling to regain its reputation. They set up a new cellar, a new wine cellar and also a tasting cellar in the centre of the village of Ampuis, opposite the church car park. Agnès Levet is today the fourth generation of winegrowers. She is committed to enhancing these ancient Côte-Rôtie vines, some of which are over sixty years old. This family know-how is passed on out of love for the vine and this terroir.
