Details of wine
The Marqués de Vargas vineyards extend for 50 hectares and are divided into 32 plots, with varieties of red grapes typical of La Rioja such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, Graciano and Maturana.
All production takes place following a sustainable cultivation without the use of herbicides and pesticides.
The vines are cared for in a maniacal way as if they were the components of a garden, pruned and harvested as soon as they reach the veraison to increase the quality of the harvest.
One of the most important wines in this cellar is Marqués de Vargas Reserva, a blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Garnacha produced according to old world methods, side by side with the most advanced technology. The wine is bottled without any clarification or filtering which results in an unprocessed and completely natural wine.

Color
Color amarena con sfumature scure color cioccolato e cerchi viola.

Smell
Al naso fragranze di frutti neri come le more di gelso, arricchite con aromi di violetta; sviluppo di un accenno di mentolo e note balsamiche.

Taste
Al palato grande densità e carattere vellutato. Tannini ben combinati dovuti al passaggio in botte di quercia, insieme a note fruttate. Concentrato, sofisticato, elegante e adatto ad un invecchiamento prolungato.

Pairings
Da abbinare al filetto aromatizzato allo Scotch invecchiato o bistecca con l'osso arrostita e scalogno.

Saying Marqués de Vargas in the wine world is naming four generations dedicated to the production and sales of excellent Rioja wines. The title of the Marqués de Vargas is held by a family closely linked to this important viticultural region in Spain. It was in 1840 when Felipe de Mata, the eighth Marqués de Vargas, planted the first vines in the outskirts of Logroño. Especially memorable was Hilario de la Mata, the father of the current Marqués de Vargas, who for years presided over one of the most emblematic wineries in Rioja. In 1989, Pelayo de la Mata, the current Marqués de Vargas, realized his fathers dream by building a winery on the Estate Hacienda Pradolagar in Logroño.
