The Domaine de la Coulée de Serrant estate represents a veritable wine paradise for the production of exceptional whites.
Nicolas Joly at the head of this company has been a pioneer of biodynamics since 1981, applying it to his productions immersed in the west of the Loire.
The cultivation takes place manually or through the use of the horse, biodynamic compounds integrated with the action of grazing sheep capable of cleaning the soil are used. The necessary fertilizer is guaranteed by a herd of 10 cows and a bull from Nantes.
The Coulée de Serrant 2018 is obtained from Chenin Blanc, harvested manually in 4 or 5 steps from old vineyards. The gentle pressing prepares the must for spontaneous fermentation and subsequent aging in wood.
Tasting a wine of this level is a great privilege, an experience that will make you appreciate the great complexity and power of a white wine with great balance and elegance.

Name: Clos de la Coulée de Serrant (Nicolas Joly) Start-up year: 1962 Cultivated hectares: 16 Address: Savennières (France)
Coulée de Serrant is the name of a vineyard planted by Cistercian monks around the year 1130, and has remained a vineyard ever since: almost 900 years of successive, uninterrupted harvests. The small old monastery, which is part of the estate, has been declared a national historical monument. A few meters away from the monastery are the ruins of the castle of "La Roche aux-Moines", around which, in 1214, took place the famous battle in which Philip Augustus defeated John Landless, son of John the Lionheart.
All around the castle there are still ancient vestiges of Celtic, Roman and Carolingian civilizations. The production is divided into three different lines: the Coulée de Serrant (AOC Coulée de Serrant) located on the steep hill overlooking the Loire, a small vineyard of only 7 hectares from which about 25,000 bottles are produced per year; the Vieux clos (AOC Savennières), smaller, from which 8/10 thousand bottles are produced; the Clos de la Bergerie (AOC La Roche aux Moines) capable of producing 15 thousand bottles.
