Details of wine

Tartalo comes from ancient Basque mythology. An old world in which Oxer likes to escape to and which he aims to express in his wines and images. Tartalo is the name of an enormously strong one-eyed Basque giant. The quote on the back label is from the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch: "From my rotting body flowers shall grow and I am in them and that is eternity."

Note di erbe (timo) e spezie dolci. Toni rustici (cuoio) in sottofondo.

Taste

Il Tartalo è caratterizzato da un'incredibile struttura e da sapori eleganti. Tannini pronunciati, a grana fine e vellutati, bilanciati da sapori di amarena, rovo e prugna nera. Finale lungo.

REFINEMENT La fermentazione malolattica si svolge in barrique francesi e in una botte Stockinger di 47 mm di spessore da 600 litri. Il vino rimane in rovere per 12 mesi per l'invecchiamento.
WINEMAKING La fermentazione delle uve raccolte a mano e diraspate viene effettuata in tino aperto (1000 litri) e in botti aperte utilizzando lieviti indigeni.

“Oxer is a very exciting new project using old vine parcels from the Rioja Alavesa. This stunning white comes from a 96-year-old, one-hectare parcel in Elvillar and is a blend of Viura with 3% Malvasia, aged is used French oak. It’s a modern/traditional cross over style, with citrus peel, aniseed and nutmeg notes and good grip and depth.” (Tim Atkin)
