Name: Philippe Lancelot
Cultivated hectares: 4
Address: 155 Allée de la Garenne - Cramant (France)

Philippe Lancelot is the fifth generation of winemakers in the municipality of Cramant, a grand cru village in the Cote des Blancs. In the 70s, it was Yves, Philippe's father, who decided to work "at home" the small but precious harvest from his own fields, thus starting to bottle his own wine at a time when the common practice led to give the grapes to the great maison. In this sense we can consider Philippe's parents as avant-garde, also from the point of view of the techniques they have developed in the respect of the Champagne tradition. In the same way, we can consider Philippe Lancelot as an evolving vigneron, certainly projected towards the green and sustainable future of this territory. Since 2010, he has been implementing the organic conversion to his own vineyard park covering an area of about 4 hectares in the municipality of Cramant, a 100% grand cru village. Here the soil consists almost exclusively of a block of pure gypsum, emerging and without sedimentary layers. This guarantees the possibility of obtaining incredibly expressive wines and minerals. From here Philippe elaborates exclusively cuvée of grand cru, developing in the cellar a work aimed at enhancing the peculiarities of this raw material embellishing it thanks to a skilful use of wood. In the cellar, only autochthonous yeasts are used, thus triggering spontaneous fermentation processes. The result is pure Champagne of Cramant in the glass. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
