description
The name Siccari comes from the Sicilian dialect for "seccare" , which translates as "to dry" in the context of foods, something that is very much a part of Sicilian culture. We chose this name as an indicator of the style, since a proportion of the grapes are sun-dried before vinification.
Rosso rubino intenso con riflessi granato.
Intenso, con intriganti note di spezie fresche, erbe medicinali, ciliegia, amarena e frutta secca.
Ben strutturato, con tannini morbidi, e un finale fruttato ricco, lungo e complesso.
Ideale con carni rosse, selvaggina, formaggi piccanti e stagionati.

Name: Purato
Address: Vittoria (RG)
Purato is a line of certified organic wines from Vittoria in southern Sicily. The vineyards and winery have undergone strenuous controls into to obtain organic certification from Bioagricert, whose certifications are recognized in the United States. Purato celebrates the regions unique micorclimate and extensive winemaking history. Lying close to the Mediterranean, Puratos vineyards benefit from cooling sea breezes. The estates soil consists of a layer of light, red, sandy loam (terra rossa) resting on top of a limestone base, which helps retain vital water. In order to preserve this rich terroir, only natural techniques are used to assist cultivation. While the abundant wind and scarce rainfall naturally protect against pest, infestations are further prevented through limited copper and sulfur treatments and sexual confusion pheromone traps. In addition, only natural fertilizers are used to avoid introducing chemicals into the topsoil. Subterranean irrigation is utilized to prevent evaporation, thereby maximizing water efficiency. To further emphasize Puratos commitment to the stewardship of Sicilys land, Puratos packaging is entirely eco-friendly; labels are made using recycled paper and vegetable dyes, cartons are made from recycled paper and the bottles are 85% recycled glass.
