Description

Details of wine

The Chianti Classico Riserva "Le Baroncole" from the San Giusto a Rentennano winery is a wine of great expressive richness. Complex mix of aromas and flavors frame it among the great wines of the area. It is a powerful wine of great structure that knows how to evolve in a surprising way if it is left with the right aging time in the bottle.

This Chianti Riserva comes from the union of Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes. The vineyards grow on tufaceous soil rich in sand and strictly bred according to the principles of organic farming. Respect for nature, its own times and cycles, elimination of pesticides make the wines of the company San Giusto, sincere and of great personality.

The fermentation of the must takes place spontaneously, thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts, both in cement and in steel tanks, macerating in contact with the skins for a total of 18-20 days. Without any filtration the wine is then moved into oak barrels and barrels to refine for a total of 16-20 months.

San Giusto a Rentennano (name of Etruscan origin), is set high on the river Arbia in the southernmost part of Chianti Classico. Ancient Cistercian monastery (hence formerly called San Giusto alle Monache), then indomitable fortress, was marked on the border, according to a treaty of 1204, between the counties of Siena and Florence. Guelph battlements of the castle remain of the wall, the massive walls and Barbican underground cellars, still used for aging wine in barrels. Property of the Martini family of Cigala since 1914, today the brothers Anna, Lucia, Elisabetta, Francesca, Alessandro, Luca.
