description
In San Marzano viticulture has a thousand-year history, which can be read in its oldest vineyards, rich in centuries-old clones. From this precious heritage of sapling vineyards with over sixty years of age, a wine is born, which is the most beautiful story of our territory.
We are facing one of the maximum expressions of this grape variety, the Primitivo di Manduria Sessantanni is obtained from old vineyards that live on a red limestone soil.
The grapes are harvested by hand, macerated with indigenous yeasts and aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.
The result is a wine with an intense ruby red color, with a complex aroma with hints of cherry and notes of tobacco.
The flavor is full-bodied with elegant tannins and a finish that detects vanilla and coffee.
Combined with meat and game dishes it will be simply extraordinary!
Primi piatti robusti, carni rosse e selvaggina. Vino da meditazione.

In 1962 19 vine growers from San Marzano, whose families had farmed the land for generations, combined their efforts to establish Cantine San Marzano. Through the decades this coooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1200 vine growers, using modern and technologically advanced plants and producing elegant wines without forgetting the obligation to the very old Apulian wine tradition. Nowadays the melding of time honoured tradition, passion and sensibility with contemporary techniques enables us to produce wines with distinctive varietal and regional characters, marvellously reflecting individual attention, seasonal variation and local terroir.
