The existence of a particular microclimate and the presence in the soil of sandstone formations have pushed this small reality to cultivate also Pinot Noir in biological way. The result is a soft and persuasive wine, rich in perfumes and elegant, balanced and able to express all the potential and also the most hidden notes of this noble vine. The harvest is usually performed in September. The maceration on the skins is carried out with frequent treading and the malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrique where it will then be refined for another 24 months. Finally the last embellishment in the bottle to be ready for consumption.

The wine estate Azienda Agricola Valturio was founded by Adriano Galli and Isabella Santarelli in 2002 with the aim of restoring the production of high quality wine to Montefeltro following centuries-old traditions that date from the times of the Dukes of Montefeltro to the beginning of the last century.
At the beginning of the nineteen hundreds, the Antimi Clari family, one of the most illustrious of Macerata Feltria, repeatedly won gold medals at the National Wine Exposition of Turin and traces of old barriques can still be found in the cellars of Palazzo Gentili Belli.
The late lawyer Egisto Gentile Belli narrated that at the beginning of the last century, his family was supplying products from its spinning-mills to France in exchange for small oak barrels used for aging wine.
The wine estate has been called Valturio in tribute to Roberto Valturio, the son of Cicco de' Valturii who lesft his native town of Macerata Feltria in 1396 and moved to Rimini, where Roberto was born in 1405. Roberto Valturio was an emblematic man of his time, whose culture ranged from literature and science and technology, and who bodly possessed those of genius and enterprise tha are so typical of the Renaissance.
After a periodo in Rome with pope Eugene IV, Valturio returned to Rimini where he was appointed Court Advisor during the rule of Sigismondo Malatesta.
His work De re militari was completed in 1455 and printed in 1472 in a fampous figurative inculabulum, granting his supranational fame and prestige and even drawing the accolade of Leonardo da Vinci.
