Details of wine

From an eclectic winemaker like Walter Massa, a wine that expressed all the characteristics of its territory could only be born.
Born exclusively through the hand harvest of Timorasso grapes, after a first fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine is left to rest on the fine lees for a period of 10 months.
Derthona Sterpi has a straw yellow color, citrus hints with notes of yellow fruit. On the palate it is soft, fresh and with a certain flavor.
Risotto with fish and fresh cheeses are excellent combinations.

Si distinguono fragranze di mela golden, kiwi, caramella al limone, "fumo", tenui soffi floreali e minerali.

Taste

Rivela una silhouette affilata, agrumata, con piacevoli guizzi sapidi. Finale piuttosto disinvolto, che rimanda al quadro aromatico. Da diverse parcelle in comune di Monleale, è lavorato in acciaio.

Walter Massa is an independent and courageous vintner who, from the 70s to the leadership of the family winery has managed to change and revive the wine face of an entire area, that of Tortona hills. The biggest merit of Walter Massa, a figure almost become legendary and considered by many colleagues as a master, was to rediscover a vine that threatened the extinction, Timorasso, sensing the great potential and obtaining memorable wines. Vineyards Massa is the name of the family cellar, founded by Walter ancestors in 1879, which today boasts 23 hectares of property on the hills of Monleale, about 300 meters above sea level. We find the typical vineyards of the territory: Barbera, Croatina, Freisa and above all Timor- lo, which are reserved for 10 hectares. In line with the long family and territorial tradition, these vineyards are cultivated with dazzling attention and far-peasant farmer, minimizing treatments. Enemy of all forms of bureaucracy and always against, Walter is convinced that wine is made in the vineyard and in the cellar and not with brands and documents, why he chose not to use names for many of its labels, thanks to its well-established reputation true artisan of wine.
