Details of wine

The Monterotondo is the Cru of Villa Sparina, obtained from rich and complex grapes, grown on a historic piece of our land in an excellent position. Separately vinified using artisan methods, the Monterotondo gives the palate that characteristic which makes the association between the territory and the Cortese grape unique: freshness, minerality, sapidity, acidity, backbone, longevity and elegance. The extraordinary quality of this white wine improves with age. Each year, from 1997 to the present, is a delicious journey through the flavours of a unique land.

Color

Oro lucido con riflessi smeraldini.

Smell

Interminabile.

Villa Sparina estate includes 100 hectares of land, of which 60 are vineyards surrounded by woods, ventilated by winds coming from the Ligurian Sea and exposed to the sun. Most vineyards are cultivated with Cortese grapes and are located on the Monterotondo hill while in Cassinelle, in a beautiful basin, 4 hectares of vineyards are cultivated with Dolcetto grapes under the Ovada DOC appellation. In Monterotondo the sun, the woods and the wind coming from the sea create a perfect micro climate for the maturation of the grapes and for the production of high quality wine. Here among older cellars and vineyards, the Moccagatta family founded Villa Sparina, and put its strength in the power of tradition and creative innovation. Today Villa Sparina is a prestigious name also famous for its unmistakable bottle shape.
