CELLAR
Name: Vincent Renoir Champagne
Cultivated hectares: 400
Address: 19 rue de la Gare - Verzy (France)
Web Site: champagne-renoir.com
Verzy, a small commune of just over a thousand souls on the northern edge of the Montagne de Reims; its notoriety is linked to the approximately 400 hectares of vineyards, mostly pinot noir, rightly classified as Grand Cru. In the middle of the village, among the narrow streets of the center, is located the small cellar of the Renoir family. A simple and uncluttered environment, but equipped with everything needed to care for the best grapes of the five hectares (between Verzy and Verzenay) of their property. From season to season, the story repeats itself: the balance of accounts ensured by the sale of part of the grapes to the great Maisons, the heart of the harvest vinified "at home" to give rise to a derisory production (just 20,000 bottles a year) but highly significant. Vincent, who has been running the winery founded by his grandparents more than half a century ago since 1983, manages the vineyards and cellar, leaving Elisabeth with the task of guiding you through the tasting of a range of Champagnes of exemplary linearity. And it is in their bright tasting room, overlooking the courtyard of the house, that the value of their labels is discovered.
