Details of wine

The area of the Herrenweg de Turckheim covers about 60 hectares and is characterized by a clay-gravelly soil and enjoys a particularly privileged climate that allows the grapes to ripen very quickly. The vineyards of Muscat d'Alsace represent about 75% of the territory while 25% are covered by Ottonel. Muscat presents itself with a straw yellow color, a scent that mixes floral and fruity. In the mouth the mineral note with a marked cidula vein stands out. Ideal with spicy foods and desserts

The Domaine Zind-Humbrecht has been created in 1959 by the union of the family owned properties of Zénon Humbrecht, winegrower at Gueberschwihr and of Emile Zind, winegrower in Wintzenheim. Before this date each of our families were producing and selling their wines under their own name. Winegrower from father to son since the Thirty Years war in Europe (1620) the Humbrecht family has long winemaking traditions. Today Léonard and Ginette, as well, as Olivier and Margaret Humbrecht are working together at the Domaine. Chanoine Barth, historian of Alsace wines, recalls that the Humbrecht family was already renting vineyards from the Abbaye of Marbach, near Gueberschwihr, in the 18th century. However, we only started to bottle our wines in 1947. Since then, we have only produced grapes from our own vineyards, making the wine and selling it under our own label. Today the Domaine Zind-Humbrecht has 40 hectares of vineyards located in five different villages in the Haut- Rhin.
